Samsung S21 Ultra Camera Specifications with Zoom Lock

1 min read

Tech Guide – The top model in the Galaxy S21 series. Samsung equips the Galaxy S21 Ultra with special feature enhancements that are not found in the regular and plus versions of the Galaxy S21. One of these features is the Zoom Lock on the two cameras of the Samsung S21 Ultra for optimizing telephoto.

What exactly is the purpose of Zoom Lock? First, it is important to note that the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra is equipped with two 10 MP telephoto cameras. Each camera has an optical zoom range of 3x and 10x. Like other periscope cameras, the Samsung S21 Ultra camera can also zoom 10x and is equipped with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS).

In addition, the Samsung S21 Ultra telephoto camera has a digital zoom reaching up to 10x. This means that the combination of optical zoom and digital zoom allows users to capture images with a magnification range from 30x to 100x.

However, when you are about to photograph an object with a high zoom level, even a slight movement or disturbance while aiming can result in a suboptimal image, such as the object becoming out of focus. This is where the Zoom Lock feature comes into play.

Zoom Lock is a feature designed to stabilize image capture when using high zoom levels. This Zoom Lock feature functions like a tripod, but uses AI technology. It allows you to lock onto a target when using the 3x or 10x telephoto just by clicking on the target on the screen.

With this locking feature, you can produce clearer and sharper images, even when photographing the moon.

Two Telephoto Cameras

The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra’s rear camera includes two telephoto cameras. Taufiq Furqan, Product Marketing at Samsung Electronics Indonesia, stated that this is to enhance the quality of long-distance photos.

“These two telephoto cameras meet the current consumer needs, with one for 3x zoom for mid-range distance and the other for long-range up to 10x,” said Taufiq. Typically, mid-range optical zoom (3x) is used for fashion portrait photography, while long-range optical zoom (10x) is used to capture distant details.

By using these two different zoom levels, it provides better image quality at mid-range (3x) and long-range (10x) zoom levels. This is because it is the result of optical zoom, not digital enlargement from a wide camera or telephoto camera with a shorter range.

The specifications of the Samsung S21 camera are:

  • Main Camera: 12MP Ultra Wide Camera

The camera specifications of Samsung’s latest smartphone are indeed the best for now. This is certainly very suitable for those of you who want excellent image captures, whether for mid-range or long-distance.
